THINCR Hosted Pluslife MiniDock NOVA Field Usability Study in Cavite

The TB HIV Innovations and Clinical Research Foundation Corp. (THINCR) hosted a field usability study of the Pluslife MiniDock NOVA prototype platform at Silang Specialist Medical Center in Cavite, Philippines, from October 5–9, 2026, in collaboration with Guangzhou Pluslife Technology Co., Ltd.

The five-day evaluation brought together Pluslife’s product management and device research and development teams with THINCR personnel to assess the platform’s usability in a real-world laboratory setting.

The study evaluated whether end users could independently complete the testing workflow following on-site training and aimed to identify potential usability issues involving the instrument, test cards, user interface, and on-screen instructions. The evaluation included MTB/RIF testing and sexually transmitted infection (STI) assays using dummy samples and external controls. It focused on usability and workflow rather than the analytical or clinical performance of the platform.

THINCR’s participating laboratory personnel, nurses, clinicians, and frontline users provided practical feedback to help identify opportunities for improving device usability and testing workflows. This collaboration reflected THINCR’s commitment to supporting the evaluation of innovative diagnostic technologies and strengthening local capacity for infectious disease research and accessible diagnostic approaches in the Philippines.
